Homan Auto Group has delivered exceptional vehicles and service to our valued customers since opening our first used car dealership back in 1974. Since those early days when my parents, Ed and Flora Homan and their one full-time service technician sold used cars, the Homan Automotive Group has grown significantly. In our early days as a used car dealership our service and commitment to the customer led to quick growth and within a few years, we added a number of employees. These included adding my brother Jeff Homan as service manager (retired in 2022), and my brother Steve Homan (retired in 2023) as office manager. We also added a couple of full-time technicians and a body shop manager (one of these technicians and our body shop manager are still with us today).

In 1986, we added our first new vehicle franchises (Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth) and I started as the sales manager. We grew quickly and became one of the leading dealers in the state in market share and more importantly – customer satisfaction. We also added several new employees and purchased more space for vehicle display.

In 1991 we acquired the Pontiac and Oldsmobile franchises and my father began plans to build a larger location to service our growing customer base and increase our inventory for our Chrysler franchises. In November of 1992, we moved into the new location and added the Jeep and Eagle brand. We then moved the Pontiac and Oldsmobile brands into the former Chrysler location.

With two successful locations in operation, Ed and Flora decided to retire and the business was sold to Jeff, Steve, and myself. At this time we employed over 25 people and had been in business for over 22 years. We continued to see rapid growth and in May of 2001 we purchased the Chevrolet and Buick franchises in Waupun.  With the purchase of the additional rooftop, we moved the Pontiac franchise to the Chevrolet – Buick location on Gateway Drive in Waupun. At this time, we had grown to over 36 employees.

We came full circle in late 2011 as we reopened the original Main Street location as “Homan’s Value Center”. The Value Center fits a nice niche for those looking for lower priced cars and trucks.

The winter of 2013 saw us expand outside of the City of Waupun into Ripon when we acquired the dealership known as Ripon Ford. We added a couple of employees, added inventory, changed a number of processes and changed the name of the dealership to “Homan Ford, Inc.”  In 2017, we were given the opportunity to add the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram franchises in Ripon also.  We added a separate showroom to the Ford facility along with extra service bays and were able to bring these brands back to Ripon after an absence of these brands for approximately 10 years.

In September of 2019, we purchased Baird GM in Ripon as Lee Baird was looking to retire after many years of service to Ripon.  This allowed us to enlarge our footprint in Ripon and become a larger member of the Ripon Community.

With the retirements of my brothers and our growth over the years, we have added some additional owners that care about our customers, their fellow employees, and our communities.  Eric Homan (Steve’s son), Robert Dresen, Randy Sabel, Dan Holz, and Brant McDowell each have interests in one or more of our locations.

We now can sell vehicles from every major domestic manufacturer and have approximately 100 full-time employees. Over the years, we have received Chrysler’s “Pentastar” Award for Sales Excellence, their “Customer Experience Elite Award” for customer satisfaction, Chevrolet and Buick’s “Mark of Excellence Award” for Sales and Service, and have doubled the sales of the new Ford location in a little under a year.

We are all extremely proud of the business we’ve built by providing you the best value and highest levels of customer satisfaction. We are continuously looking to improve how we do business and also take a lot of pride in supporting our local communities.

As we are approaching 50 years in business, we are extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve our many customers over the years. Without our customers, our success would never be possible.
